Research Interest:

Prof. Gu is specialized in analytical electron microscopy, especially EELS in TEM and EDS/EBSD/CL in SEM. His researches focus on complex structures, internal interfaces and multiphase microstructures of ceramic materials in extreme environments and with extreme performance. In his view, the multiscale phase evolution should be studied quantitatively and in both the real and reciprocal spaces, which can expose novel structure-property relationship and new thermodynamic routes, often at mesoscopic scales.
