Advance your career in high-pressure synchrotron science

The Comprehensive High Pressure Synchrotron Research group at the Center for High Pressure Science & Technology Advanced Research welcomes highly motivated graduate students and postdoctoral researchers to explore materials and quantum phenomena under extreme conditions.

Research Environment

World-class training in extreme-condition science

HPSynR specializes in the use of synchrotron radiation, diamond anvil cells, laser heating, and complementary in situ probes to study structural, electronic, and magnetic transitions in materials under extreme conditions, including high pressure, high/low temperature, and external electric or magnetic fields.

Students and postdocs are trained to design frontier experiments, analyze advanced synchrotron data, develop high-pressure techniques, and collaborate across physics, chemistry, materials science, and Earth and planetary sciences.

Advanced platformsSynchrotron radiation, diamond anvil cells, laser heating, X-ray diffraction, spectroscopy, and transport measurements.
Interdisciplinary topicsQuantum materials, functional materials, super-hard materials, planetary interiors, photon science, and energy-related materials.
Global collaborationOpportunities to conduct experiments at major synchrotron facilities and work with leading scientists worldwide.
Why HPSynR?

Frontier research, supportive mentorship, and international visibility

Our discoveries and creations address fundamental questions in condensed matter physics, chemistry, materials science, and Earth science. Research from the group has been published in leading journals, including Nature, Nature Communications, Science, Physical Review Letters, Journal of the American Chemical Society, and Nano Letters.

We value rigorous science, creativity, open collaboration, and inclusive scientific communities. Graduate students and postdoctoral researchers receive academic mentorship, technical training, and support to develop independent research directions.
