We study the physical, chemical and rheological properties of Earth and planetary materials (including solid rocks and minerals, melts and fluids that govern various dynamic processes inside Earth and planets) at high pressure (P), high temperature (T) and/or high stress conditions. We employ advanced high-pressure large volume press (LVP) techniques, coupled with synchrotron X-ray techniques and analytical facilities, from atomic to planetary scales, providing vital information for interpreting geophysical and geochemical observations.
Current active research projects:
(1) Structure and physical properties of melts and geofluids;
(2) Deep mantle petrology and geochemistry;
(3) Physical mechanisms of deep earthquakes and planetary quakes;
(4) Deep volatile cycles in planetary interiors;
(5) Noval material synthesis and technical developments for high P-T LVP experiments

(5)新型材料合成及高温高压大压机实验技术的发展与创新。
